Long Island Greenbelt A unique, non-profit grassroots organization that has created more than 200 miles of hiking paths on Long Island, including three National Recreation Trails. They are dedicated to protecting open space and our scenic Greenbelt trails for all to enjoy. They lead over 200 FREE GUIDED HIKES each year; and have donated a total of over 500,000 volunteer hours to Long Island’s parks and trails.

Belmont Lake State Park West Babylon. Belmont Lake State Park, located in West Babylon is a 463-acre day use park bisected by Carll's Creek and Belmont Lake. Carll's Creek stretches 4.2 miles south to the Great South Bay with a trail for hiking and biking. Horseback riding is available through the nearby Babylon Riding Center. The 42-acre Belmont Lake is encircled by a similar path, making a total of 7.6 miles of multi-use trails.

Bethpage State Park Bethpage State Park is best known for its five world-class golf courses, including the world-renowned Black Course which was the site of the U.S. Open Championship in 2002 and 2009, the Barclays in 2012 and 2016, the PGA Championship in 2019 and will host the 2025 Ryder Cup. Visitors also flock to the park to use the park's picnic facilities, playing fields, tennis courts, bridle paths, hiking and biking trails and cross-county skiing trails.

Brooklyn-Queens Greenway Guide The Brooklyn–Queens Greenway is a bicycling and pedestrian path connecting parks and roads in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, connecting Coney Island in the south to Fort Totten in the north, on Long Island Sound.

Camp Hero State Park Montauk. Camp Hero State Park encompasses 415 acres of diverse landscape including heavily wooded areas, a long expanse of beachfront along the Atlantic Ocean, and an historic military installation. Specific features of Camp Hero are magnificent pristine maritime forests, freshwater wetlands, spectacular ocean vistas and dramatic bluffs rising from the beach. An extensive system of trails is available for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve Huntington. Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve, situated on a scenic peninsula extending into Long Island Sound, offers miles of bridle paths, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and nature trails over acres of woodland, meadows, rock shoreline and salt marsh.

Cross Island Parkway Trail The Cross Island Parkway Trail closely follows its namesake thoroughfare through northeastern Queens. From its northern end, you will soon enter Little Bay Park, which offers lovely views of the Throgs Neck Bridge and the bay.

Ellen Farrant Memorial Bikeway The Ellen Farrant Memorial Bikeway, sometimes referred to as the Jones Beach Bikeway or Wantagh Parkway Shared-Use Path, is a relatively straight and flat path, curving around trees here and there. The challenge in riding it comes from the mild slopes as one approaches the bridges, as well as from the lack of shade on the path.

EPCAL Alternative Transportation Path The EPCAL Alternative Transportation Path loops around the 2,900-acre Enterprise Park at Calverton (hence its name: EPCAL) on New York’s Long Island and links to the Town of Riverhead’s 65-acre recreational facility on the western portion of the park. Families visiting to participate in organized sports at the athletic fields can simultaneously walk, jog, bike, or skate on the trail to access various other activity centers in the region within the towns of Riverhead, Brookhaven, and Southampton.

Heckscher State Park East Islip. The 1,600 acres of Heckscher State Park on the south shore of Long Island are used by park visitors for a number of outdoor activities; primarily, the park's shady picnic groves provide the idyllic spots for family and group picnic outings. Large open fields are used for soccer, cricket, lacrosse, and other field sports. Four miles of paved, multi-use trails attract bicycle riders, walkers, and nature lovers. In addition to stunning views of the Great South Bay with Fire Island as the backdrop, visitors see whitetail deer, a variety of birds and other wildlife.

Hempstead Lake State Park West Hempstead. Hempstead Lake State Park is a multiuse facility. Included are 18 tennis courts, 6 pickleball courts, children's playgrounds, basketball courts, bridle trails for horseback riding and biking, hiking trails, shaded picnic areas and a historic hand-carved wooden carousel.

Jones Beach Boardwalk Nassau County, The Jones Beach Boardwalk traverses Jones Beach State Park, running parallel (and south of) Ocean Parkway. The pleasant pathway offers views of the beach and the ocean. Although bicycles are permitted, pedestrians have the right of way and bicyclists should dismount in crowded areas. 4 miles

Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway Nassau and Suffolk Counties. 13.7 miles. Like Wantagh State Parkway, Ocean Parkway was built in the postwar 1930s to provide access to the crown jewel of the state park system, Jones Beach State Park. Unlike the former road, however, this one travels east–west and only recently added a pathway for nonmotorized traffic. The Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway currently parallels its namesake roadway nearly 14 miles between the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater and the town of Oyster Bay, with a 10-mile extension out to Captree State Park having opened in 2021.

Prospect Park Brooklyn. Prospect Park attracts cyclists of all levels and abilities. Bicycling is permitted on the Park Drives, including the 3.35-mile loop, which hosts a range of cycling events throughout the year. Bike rentals are available at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside.

Shore Parkway Greenway Trail Brooklyn and Queens, the trail is part of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway route. 13 miles
